El Calafate to Bariloche
There are two bus services from El Calafate to Bariloche and return.
TAQSA www.taqsa.com.ar runs a daily service via Rio Gallegos where you change buses. This is the fastest route, the trip taking about 30 hours with short stops at Rio Gallegos, Comodoro Rivadavia and El Bolson. You can return by the same route from Bariloche to El Calafate.
The buses are very comfortable with a choice of sleeper seats, half-sleeper seats or executive sleeper seats. A hostess is on board and tray meals are served.
Taqsa have the name Taqsa as well as Marga on the buses as both are under the same umbrella company. Reservatioins are made through the Taqsa website.
CHALTEN TRAVEL www.chaltentravel.com . These buses are often used by students and backpackers or by people who have time to spare. The trip takes two days from El Calafate to Bariloche but three days on the return.
Departures from El Calafate to Bariloche: buses depart from El Calafate to Perito Moreno (not to be confused with the glacier of the same name) on odd days at 8.00 am, arriving in Perito Moreno at 9.00pm. You are lodged at the Hotel Belgrano (an inexpensive hotel). Day 2, the bus departs Perito Moreno at 8.00am, arriving in Bariloche at approx. 9.00pm.
Departures from Bariloche to El Calafate:
Day 1: Buses depart from Bariloche at 6.45am from the offices of Turaccion, Calle Quaglia 262, Galeria Firenze, Bariloche. You spend the night at the Hotel Belgrano in Perito Moreno.
Day 2: The bus departs Perito Moreno at 10.00 am and arrives at El Chalten at 9.00pm where you spend the night.
Day 3: Buses depart from El Chalten to El Calafate at 7.00am, 1.00pm or 6.00pm

Due to volatile exchange rate it is always best to check your bus fares close to the date of travel.
